Transitioning to the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC), Dr. Patiño earned a B.S. in Health Science. Notably, his dynamic academic journey included active participation as a member of the Banana Slug’s men’s basketball team, enriching his overall college experience.

UCSF School of Dentistry: A Path to Excellence

Embarking on his journey to excellence, Dr. Patiño was accepted into the esteemed University of California, San Francisco School of Dentistry (UCSF), where he attained his Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS). Throughout his UCSF tenure, he garnered multiple scholarships and awards, showcasing his academic prowess.

Leadership and Advocacy in Dentistry

Demonstrating leadership at various levels, Dr. Patiño held national roles within the American Dental Education Association (ADEA). His steadfast focus on minority recruitment highlighted his commitment to fostering diversity within the dental field.

Specialization in Orthodontics

Fueled by passion, Dr. Patiño undertook a specialized path as an orthodontist at UCSF, completing an additional three years of training. Serving as the chief resident, he was honored with the Colgate-Palmolive Company Dental Residency Scholarship from the Hispanic Dental Association (HDA).

Board Certification and UCSF Professor

Attaining the pinnacle of certification as a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, Dr. Patiño distinguished himself for achieving excellent orthodontic results. Currently serving as an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Division of Orthodontics at UCSF, he guides future orthodontists in delivering patient care and tackles challenging cases from the Bay Area.

Beyond being an orthodontist, Dr. Patiño treasures family and friends.
